Rezept für Tteokbokki (Korean spicy rice cake)

Ingredients

For 2 servings

  • S&B Golden Curry Medium Hot 110g (half pack)
  • 1/4 cup gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1/2 tablespoon gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
  • 1/2 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1/4 c dried kombu
  • 5 dried anchovies
  • 250g Topokki rice cake
  • 2 spring onions, sliced
  • 125 g fish cakes or fish balls (optional)
  • 2 hard-boiled eggs (optional)
  • Instant ramen noodles (optional)
  • Ready-made tteokbokki sauce (optional)

step by step

STEP 1

Make the spice paste: Mix the gochujang, gochugaru and sugar in a small bowl. Set the bowl aside.

STEP 2
Place water, dried anchovies, and dried kombu in a large pot. Cook over medium heat for fifteen minutes, then remove the anchovies and kombu from the pot, reserving the broth.

STEP 3
Add the rice cakes, spring onions, fish cakes, eggs and the spice paste to the pot. Stir gently to incorporate the paste and cook until the rice cake pieces are tender and the sauce has thickened (about 10-15 minutes).

STEP 4
Remove from heat. Serve the food and enjoy! Tteokbokki tastes best with a cold, refreshing drink Step 5 (optional)
Boil a package of regular ramen noodles (any type of noodles will work) with water for 3-5 minutes. Then rinse the noodles and add the noodles to the tteokbokki bowl.
